I'M NEW HERE

The Basics About Worship (Click to see more)

Where Are you? Where SHould I Park?
We're located on the Northwest corner of the intersection of Franklin and Farmer Streets in Otsego. We're just a block south of M-89.

There are several spaces available in the lot behind our church, and the First Congregational Church across the street graciously allows us to use their lot when needed. Please don't park in the driveway; we need to make sure to allow at least one lane of traffic at all times.

Worship Service (Times & Styles)
Picture
We have our services on Saturday mornings.

At 10am, we offer group Bible studies for all ages in our church and our community center. The adults follow the Seventh-day Adventist Sabbath School quarterly lesson guide, available online here.
At 11am, we have our worship service. Our worship is traditionally-styled, with a regular mix of songs, prayer, Scripture readings, and  sermon. Service usually finishes by 12:30pm.

What to Wear
Our motto is, "We don't care what you wear; we're just glad you're here." This means that you're just as likely to see t-shirts, jeans, and tennis shoes as you are to see a suit & tie. Generally, our congregation promotes modesty, simplicity, and comfort when it comes to style.

In this diagram, you'll see 7 "levels of fashion". You'll never see anyone dressed like the 1st 2 levels ("white tie" or "black tie") for any program at our church. The pastor, and a few members, will be dressed "semi-formally". The majority of attendees will wear clothes that are business casual, casual, or  ultra casual for worship.

Bibles
During our worship service, you'll need a Bible. Bring one from home (paper or digital; a great free Bible app is produced by YouVersion and available for both Android and iOS), or borrow one of our Bibles. Our pastor preaches from the New King James Version of the Bible, and our sharing Bibles are also that translation, but feel free to bring whatever translation you're most comfortable using.

Lunch
Twice a month, we have a fellowship lunch after our worship service. Our lunches are potluck-style, so feel free bring a dish to pass. The majority of our congregation is vegetarian (no meat, no animal fats, but dairy products & honey are fine), so please cook your favorite foods accordingly. You'll find our potluck dates on our calendar.
Denomination
The Seventh-day Adventist Church is a fast-growing, Bible-based Christian group that began in America in the mid-19th century. Over 150 years later, we have over 19 million believers in 81,000 churches in over 200 countries. The Adventist church's school system is the largest Protestant network in the world, with almost 7800 schools, and our healthcare system is a global leader in medical care. Our name is derived from 2 of our most fundamental beliefs: 1) the belief that all of the 10 Commandments, including the Seventh-day Sabbath, are still valid for the Christian faith, and 2) the belief that Jesus is coming again soon.
